Hi all, I am a Oregonian and all my mining experience is high rugged pacific Northwest Forrest's, creeks, rivers... I took a opportunity to come visit and stay with a friend of mine in crescent valley NV, I have been here for a week and thought I was prepared...which I am sort of. I have equipment, and have been studying this area for a couple months now and I see lots of railing piles and waste dumps with small pits... So many hot rocks out here... It's beautiful out here, I'm having fun, I will be finding nuggets, just thought maybe a vet in this area could help guide me... Like I said I am in the crescent valley area, any ideas or if anybody wants to nugget shoot, or drywash or crush some ore please reply. I'm fun and not a dumb ass. Not sure if this is allowed but surfinsomo@gmail.com is my email. Thanks. Looking forward and up

Glad to see so many eager willing to help. Anyways I decided to hit the bullion district, my first 2 days I went up hill top road between crescent valley and battle mountain, and up triplet gulch... Found a few small lol specs. From the publications I read the good placer gd is pretty deep so I really only expected what I got. The next week I went further north in the Shoshone range (corral canyon, then over to mud spring gulch, and over by the Delores mine....I had the best luck metal detecting old tailing piles in the gulch and dry washing by the Delores mine. Find the two old rundown shacks past the tailings and the old shaft about a hundred yards or so I dug I big hole and stacked the rocks in x. If you dig in this hole you will find gold Also found some small stuff in the banks of Indian Creek. Thought I would post this to "HELP" anybody that may need a little hand on where to find gold so if you only have a few days you can actually get gold and not get skunked... This area is a little tricky and very remote so prepare yourselves.... Glad I could help myself. And hopefully this finds and HELPS another member who HELPS other people when they are not from a area and could use some HELP....

Well that seems like a nice trip. I dont go out into that area at all so dont know much to say. I stay mostly Humbolt County and Pershing most north west of I-80... Jungo, Sawtooth, Rye Patch. How large were the gold you found with the detector? small stuff? What kind of detector were you using? Thanks for your input.

Hey Leo, Yes very fine stuff I'm surprised I even picked up... I brought my whites GMT and my equinox 800 with me on this trip. I'm about to leave the area and head west on the 80, and am going to be stopping a couple places on the way to eldorado county in CA. (Excited about that) That Chevron gold! Do you ever find any chunks out here? From what I have read rye patch is probably the best bet. I would like to check out some different Nevada spots before I leave the state.... Thanks for the response Have a good day

You found the fine stuff with the metal detector? Well before you would get to Rye Patch, there are the Eugene Mountains on the north side of I-80 near Imlay. Choice is either the west side of the range or the east side as it runs north and south. Most stuff around Rye Patch is sub gram, but its hard to find unless you have one of the high end Minelabs. But still, that doesnt mean you cant find stuff much shallower. I have not found any chunky gold, but I do know guys who have, but they have spent a good bit of time in the area. Its there.

Ya, some people don't believe me when I show them what I Have found with my detecter, but I have no need to make stuff up... Maybe I just know my machine well or maybe I'm picking up some heavies and there happens to be small gold in the same pockets either way I do find some really small stuff it surprises me aswell. I did read about Eugene mountains in one of my books. Ill check it out on my way to California. From there heading to AZ then NM, and when the weather warms up a little bit will be back to southern Oregon and Idaho, as long as fuel prices don't go much higher.... Thanks for the chat, and good luck to you. Let me know if you want to hunt sometime within the next week.
