    Hello all,

I signed up for the Stanton outing and was wondering if anyone can give me a heads up on what to expect.  I will be camping and very new to the gold prospecting field.  I know I will learn alot there and can't wait for that.  If anyone can let me know what I should bring since I will be camping that would be great.  I go out camping alot but not for anything like this.

Just looking for some advice and can't wait to meet alot of great people.

When you get your packet from the main office it will have a list of suggestions to bring. I might add, bring lots of buckets. You are going to be on a great claim and may want to work by yourself some or bring some pay dirt home to work with. I have heard that Stanton is prime metal detecting country. And if Kevin Hoagland is giving his metal detecting class you will learn a lot. Stanton is his home territory so he will be able to point you in the right direction to head out. A camera, you will have a blast and want some pictures to remember it by.

Thank you Tim.  I will for sure bring a few buckets with me.  I will try to get a detector before then, it seems to be the best way to find a little color.  I signed up for the 5 day trip so I hope to learn a lot.  I am just excited about this and ready to learn as much as I can.  I can see this thread is getting a lot of views just not many people want to post, but its all good.

Andrew the Sierra Vista Motel in Congress, AZ is very small with only four rooms but has very hot water and is clean and well kept. I stayed their a couple of weeks ago and was pleased with the value. It is very remote from Phoenix but close to Stanton if you need a break from camping.
