I have been Prospecting the Arizona desert now for a couple of years with really no success. I did buy a small hand puffer, dry washer but have had no success finding ground worth using it. I have been mining in the Morris town area claims. I know there must still be some gold out there on those claims, just need a little guidance on where to look for it. I tend to migrate towards the small washes and I guess that's not where to go since I have found nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would love to meet someone up on the claims just to get some ideas on where the gold hides out in the desert.

    Thanks Stan

I have not been to Morristown in several years. It is a good area. Talk to GPAA members in the Phoenix area for help. I have been frequenting Quartzsite in the Winter months because of the Mineral shows but my finds have been minimal. My prospecting in AZ all depends on the price of a Southwest ticket from Dallas, TX to Phoenix.

    Thanks for your reply!
I am so use to the rivers and streams of Washington and California. It's very easy to find there.

Gold is where you find it Stan.
Keep at it and learn along the way. Eventually your luck will change.

Good evening Ken, I would guess there will be some water in the creek. In fact we are expecting a little more rain late this week. Good luck up there. Have not been up there yet but heard good things about it.

    Hey Stan ,
I go to the lsd area quite a bit during the year. I’ve always had better luck out of the washes up on the benches . I metal detect most of the time but if the ground is dry enough I do enjoy dry washing . I use an old Thompson puffer or if im feeling my oats I use a royal with a blower.Im going to try and sneak away from work on 11/21/22 for a couple days before thanksgiving probably get up there in the afternoon. Im the good looking guy lol in a silver f250 pulling a small white toy hauler. Not to sure how wet the ground is, last time I was up there it rained on me.But like I said I detect most the time anyway.

Thanks for the response Stephen. I have started to find a speck or two, but nothing of any size. Mostly fly poop size. Trying to stay out of the washes. Have been in the banks of the washes mostly. Would love to figure out where the smaller pickers are hiding out. Going to head for Vulture Bait Claim and do some hiking to see what I can find. I did by a little drywasher. But boy with all the rain we have had it might be a long while before I can even try it out. Thanks again. Hope to see you out there some time. I also have a monster 1000 that I have kind of given up on. After 100s of bbs and junk, I gone back to digging.
