The coordinates given for entry to claim is blocked by a locked gate by the power company. There is no place to park, and no place to access claim, based off information given both on site and in guide. Anyone with expirence with this claim that might be able to give better information?

I have not been there since I joined the GPAA but am familiar with the area, it's on my list of spots to check out. There is no motorized access because of National Forest rules. You can hike past the electric access gate and it sounds like there is a decent trail up valley. On Google Earth it looks like it leaves from the power line right near the power station at the access road. You can park across the highway near the Summit Lake lodge, a large portion of their Parking lot is in the highway right of way or there is a pretty big shoulder near the Tenderfoot Campground Rd. Online guide had a report of a bear baiting staion there at some point, so pack your choice of protection.
