Thanks for the reply. but what type of report do you get? Is it only PMG or a range of other mineral identifications contained in the sample? I have samples from Northern Nevada that I am curious to see just what the mineral makeup actually is and not quite sure which type of assay I should ask for.

Hey Leo,
XRF does 30 elements. Mainly PGM. If you want a full spectrum, go to Reed Labs, Carlsbad Ca.
I had that trouble. I have a lot of bauxite on my property. It will drive any detector nuts. You think you hit th muther load, and its aluminum.
Reed will give you an assay that covers 60+ elements. I think its $75. Their website tells everything. They also offer a PGM assay.

Thanks for the info. I did a look up on the website for XRF and I like what I saw. They covered quite a bit of minerals with the Xray scan and the sample size seems to be not an issue. I was reading where they say they need at least enough material to cover a "nickle" ....hmm well sample that size wont give a good reading but anyways its still good. And they only charge $25.00. I will try them out, seems like a good shot. I am not worried with the time, just as long it doesnt take months. Weeks are fine by me. I will let you know how it worked for me . Thanks.
