    Hello fellow prospectors,
I'm a newbie when it comes to hunting for meteorites. I live in the Victorville Hesperia area in the Mojave desert, California. And have renewed interest in hunting for meteorites. I was wondering if anybody could give me some tips on where to hunt for meteorites, I understand that meteorites can land anywhere, but is there any one particular area that I can start out with in my local area where I would have really good chances of finding meteorites? I would really appreciate any help in this or tips.

I have found a few out here in the desert. I found a nice iron one on the north side of Ord Mtn. I believe it was part of the trail of meteorites that ended up spreading thru Lucerne Valley. You can access Ord Mtn by using the pipeline road off Barstow rd.

Another place I found small pieces was on Coyote Dry Lakebed. You can walk the edges around the lakebed with a stick with a good magnet and find some, or even walk the lakebed itself. I'd do it in the winter months because of the heat in summer. You can access the lakebed from dirtroads that lead NW behind the old Lake Delores, or from Irwin Rd just past the bottom of Jackhammer Pass, along the long straight portion of Irwin Rd.

Just try to stay off people's private property.
    Hope you find some..
