I am researching better equipment after my last prospecting trip broke 2 shovels. The area where I like to set up my sluice and run is next to a large gravel bar. The issue is the gold is deep (1-2 feet) under gravel varying in size. Getting down there is hard work but it pays off very well. I am wondering if there are any specific types of equipment that you all recommend for digging in gravel. Any info would be appreciated, thanks!

Haha, that would definitely do the trick for sure. If only I didn't live in California with its crazy laws, they wouldn't like it if I rolled onto a claim with one of those 🤣.

🤣🤣🤣 I actually recommend a combination of a good sturdy pointed all metal shovel and one with a flat front for scooping. That motion will move more gravel faster.

Perhaps a small rototiller?
