Yesterday my son and I went to the claim, upon arriving at the site we found a small red sign that reads as follows: NOTICE EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY BE NOTIFIED THAT LAND DESCRIBED BELOW HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM MINING AND PROSPECTING ON THE SOLDIER BOY AND DOUBLE JJ MINING CLAIMS. STARTING AT THIS POINT AND PROCEEDING IN A NORTHERLY AND SOUTHERLY DIRECTION A LINE THAT CENTERS ON THE GRANITE DIKE AND PROCEEDS TO THE END OF THE CLAIM IN EITHER DIRECTION. THIS LINE EXTENDS 50 FT IN EITHER DIRECTION AND SHALL BE IN EFFECT REGARDLESS IF THE DIKE IS ABOVE GROUND OR NOT. NO MINING AND PROSPECTING SHALL TAKE PLACE UNLESS IT IS DIRECTLY SUPERVISED BY THE CLAIM OWNER OR KEVIN HOAGLAND. What the heck does this mean for us?

I'm interested in what's going on. **EDITed** Realized my previous post came across with a weird tone. I am genuinely curious as to what's going on and why one part of a claim is removed...

That was actually our first thoughts! Didn't waste the long trip so we played with our R/C crawlers on the road!

Hi, I'm confused is it really a part of a claim for GPAA members or not? Why is a part of the claim removed from access for GPAA members and the other part not. Do you think whoever put this sign up is a claim jumper, or what is the problem? Thanks for any info provided. Lia McVicker...still a "greenhorn"

I’ve been up there a few times and saw that a few weeks ago as well. Not easy to interpret. I’d like some more information on this as well as a new map of the claims so we can be sure to abide by this notice, if legit. The way I interpreted it was to stay on the opposite side of that sign for that dry wash and go the other way. Still very confusing. Thanks for posting !

Ok, a bit of an update. Although nothing as official as I would like. It seems some GPAA members were at the site around a month ago and used a winch on a truck to remove several large boulders and with that action it brought the anger of the claim owner and the higher ups AKA Kevin Hoagland. If you are looking at the sign, the road in that location runs north and south, do not prospect to the east of the sign. Everything west is still in play, and there is plenty of the good stuff! Still hoping for clarity from GPAA however! Back to my clean up!
