My son and I have the gold bug and have been prospecting since the weather has been good. We need some advice on the best places to prospect in NM and other states. We have an RV and UTV to be able to go wherever needed. We recently joined GPAA and am looking for some help and advice. If there are any claims that are available, we would be interested in looking at them. Thank you for any help.

    Welcome Steve n Ryan,

First place to start your research if you havent already,
Button at the top of the page "properties", that opens a search page, plug in your state of interest and county if known
that will bring you to state claims listed with GPAA.
Checking the properties, I see six listed claims in NM
Sorry I have no info to offer on NM, other than hot and dry

Good luck and get out there,
    Bill

Hello fellow greenhorns. I recommend the Grayback claim in Sierra county. It's just south of Truth or Consequences and is easily accessible. I live in Albuquerque so it's an easy day trip. I'm planning to go in the next several days for just the day, but am planning several more adventures throughout the summer with the possibility of a one week outing at some point.
Always have plenty of water and watch out for the rattlesnakes!

    Hi Deb,
Never been in NM, curious to know types of prospecting/mining since this is in the dredging category
Dry washing, detecting I'm sure, hard rock ?
    Any "running" water ?
Being in central CA, my operation is wet
