Yes, we all have 5 gal buckets and a lot of classifiers in different mesh sizes that perfectly fit on said buckets. However, I quickly learned to stop filling the buckets with 5 gal of material if I have to lug it from the bench to the sluice in the river about 40' away, many times that day. So, we decided to only fill it 1/2 way, makes sense. Well, I already have several 2 gallon buckets that would be a lot easier to pack in to some of the claims as well as once it's full, that's enough material and definitely a lot easier on the shoulder and back. However, I can't find any classifiers that would fit the opening of a 2 gal bucket, which is about 9" ID, unlike a 5 gal bucket which is closer to 11.5" ID. Any help in pointing me to the right direction would be appreciated.

    Scott,

    Same issue,
Instead of 2 gal classifier, get 3 1/2 gal buckets, same size of 5 gallon opening
I think a 3 pack was $20-30 dollars shipped to the house with lids which I dont need but...
Unhook one side of the handle, cut a peice of tubing to slide up on the plastic handle
    Makes carrying buckets more pleasant
At one time someone made a "snappy grip" to snap on bucket handles, maybe still out there

    Get out there,
    Bill

I have a 3.5 gal bucket that we've used so much it cracked. Can't find them around here locally so I'll i guess I'll have to search online.

They're out there....2 to 3 gal buckets with the same top opening as the 5 gal. Just have to search around to find.

Edit.....quick search on the 'bay and 3.5 gal buckets are 36.00 for 10. Same 12' dia top as the 5gal
