Easy access

Easy access
Easy access from Hwy. 96. Worked claim for four days with very good results. Was adventurous and crossed river in canoe...opposite bank is large and has hardly been touched. Spring rains have deposited good gold on the bars. Clear cobblestones and work sands beneath. Swift river current...be very careful if attempting to cross...wear a life jacket! Fine gold to large flake gold. Please do not dig around the exposed culvert on the roadside of the river (and yes, it holds GOLD)...I don't want to see us lose this claim. Thank you!

There's Color to be found
Move rocks around and seems where deposit of red clay has been caught is where the gold is. Worked with a detector, sluice and pan just for a few hours. Smaller gold found, no nugget.

Successful Revisit

Successful Revisit
Revisited July 2019, broke apart approximately three foot tall section of washed off bank material on the road side of the claim and (again) found EXCELLENT large flake and smaller gold throughout the material, especially trapped within the heavy matted roots.
Be careful not to blow out the flaky gold from your sluice at this location. Classified to 1/2 inch then ran through my homemade electric recirculating sluice.
Also recommend the area at the bottom of the hill and to the right of the road cut from the river up into the high water bench...especially digging under the thorn brush (gloves!)...π. Avoid the fine sand and dig the gravel with sandππ.
Easy access, beautiful location. Watch the little ones beside this river, strong current. Update...finally ran across photos of this trip. Not a bad afternoon on the river π...photo above does not include concentrates.

Bedrock Not Productive
Step 1 of 1
Bedrock Not Productive
The water was running way too high and fast to sluice when I visited so instead of digging in the gravel bar towards the front of the claim I tried my luck at the exposed bedrock towards the tail end. That bit is not an overly promising location with the river as high as it is and It showed signs of being heavily worked previously, and the areas left that I chose to work were not productive. There was some gold but nothing beyond small flakes and not nearly enough to be worth the time and effort invested.
I'd visit again when the river is lower but probably not before then.

Not marked

Not marked
Wasted my time and gas driving up to the "so called " claim. The 49ers club was clearly marked but after walking the road a quarter mile in each direction from their claim there were no GPAA or any other markers. Double checked the coordinates with my GPS and I was in the right place. Not happy.
