First time to a GPAA claim

I only collected a half full 5 gallon bucket of material to pan at home. Looks like a great place to pan, possibly sluice depending on the current, High banker would be good but a dredge on some of the crevices and bedrock would be even better. You can drive a truck/suv down into the river with no problems. On my way in, I stopped at the check-in office and the woman told me $5 per adult per day, and that you didn't need to be a GPAA member to pan there?? I paid and continued on. I was the only one there but the lady said that weekend several people had came by and panned. I live in Oklahoma, cant go to Colorado claims until my vacation rolls around but the one in Oklahoma is helping to keep the fever at bay.

I have dredged here many times!

I have dredged here many times. I always find some gold. The picture below is from Memorial Day 2010. I was using a 4" Keene dredge with air. I had just cleaned a 6ft deep 4in-6in wide crack and this is what I found.

K-River For Greenhorn

Being new (GreenHorn) and from deep East Texas I thought I'd give this gold panning thing a go and since finding gold is on my Bucket list there you are. The weather was extremely HOT and Humid and with my age and health I couldn't pan much longer than an hour. That being said, went out twice found color both times as well as a nice ring.

I can't imagine what I could have done with a dredge or more sophisticated equipment and more knowledge, not to mention cooler weather.

Awesome campground with everything you need and more. The lady at the office said "NO CHARGE" to prospect if you're camping there.
